Dr. Aruna Gamage Awarded the Friedrich-Weller Prize 2026

The monograph Buddhaghosa, His Sources, and the Buddhist Others: Authority and Heterodoxy in Early Mahāvihāra Commentaries (2025), authored by Aruna Gamage (DFG-Eigene Stelle), Institute of Indology and Tibetology, LMU Munich, and published in Studia Indologica Universitatis Halensis, has been awarded the Friedrich-Weller Prize 2026.
The prize is jointly conferred by the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Leipzig and Leipzig University. The award ceremony took place on 10 April 2026 in Leipzig.
